Yes, you can! You can find the instructions on how to remove and fitting the covers step by step in our manuals which you find here »

Yes, you can use our car seats on all seat positions if the car manufacturer approves them. Check the car’s user manual for more information on which seat positions is approved for use of a car seat or see our vehicle list here ».

Yes, the tether straps must always be used when installing it with ISOFIX.

Axkid’s accessories ensure your child is safe and comfortable at all times. We do tests on all our products but there is no official test on accessories because there is no standard or regulations on how to test accessories in the car, in comparison to the Plus Test where there are Swedish standard and specific procedures to be approved. This process standardization is missing when it comes to accessories.

You can read more about the Swedish Plus Test here »

All our car seats have tilt functions in the front. Try to use these first to get a better angle on the car seat, see the user manual for detailed information. If you need to tilt the car seat even more, we recommend our accessory ”angle adjusting wedge”.

Here is a video of how the wedge should be used.

We at Axkid recommend as small an inclination of the car seat as possible, provided that the child can sit upright by itself without the head falling forward. All children are different and the inclination of the car seat must always be adapted to the child’s needs. The recommended angle for small children is about 30-35 degrees. A suitable angle for older children is between 15-25 degrees. Depending on the car seat model, there are different numbers of tilt positions and if you feel that you need more tilt than what the tilt control offers, you can buy a tilt wedge from one of our retailers » or at www.axkid.com »

We recommend the use of our car seats during the course of 8 years, from when it is installed in your car. For example, it can be in store for 2 years and then used for 8 years. The baby car seat has a life span of 6-7 years in use. The reason as to why we have set this time limit is because the plastic parts are more sensitive to differences in temperatures when installed in the car, but also because we at Axkid are continuously working with the development of our products.

To provide your child with the best protection, the child’s ears shall be below the headrest upper edge. For Axkid Minikid, Axkid Rekid and Axkid Modukid, we recommend always using the unique headrest feature that makes the seat adapt to the child’s length and size. When unlocked, the car seat grows with your child and adjusts itself every time you use the seat. For Axkid Move and other seats in our product range we recommend checking regularly that the headrest is in correct position in relation to your child. Take a look at the instructions manual of your car seat for more information. For Axkid One we have added 2 stripes on the headrest that should be in the eye height of the child.

It should be so tight that you can get maximum 2 fingers between the child’s body and the harness. We recommend that you remove any type of thick clothing since it is important that the harness is as close to the child’s body as possible. To keep the child warm during the car ride you can place a blanket or something similar on top of the harness without interfering with the safety of the child.
For more instructions on how to prepare and fasten your child in the car seat, please follow this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1oSJTT4g5k

It is important that the headrest and belt is correctly adjusted in same height as the shoulder. If the belt is too low the belt will press the child´s back down in a accident. If the belt is to high the child could come loose or in case of an accident the belt could run over the neck instead of over the chest bone.

Se below picture for correct height.

After a car accident, it is crucial to assess whether the car seat is still safe to use. A car seat should always be replaced if any of the following conditions are met:

  1. Activation of airbags or other safety systems: If any of the built-in safety systems have been activated or deployed during the accident.
  2. Interior damage to the car: If there are visible damages inside the car caused by the collision.
  3. Collision with larger animals: If the car seat has been involved in a collision with a larger animal.
  4. Repair costs exceeding 35,000 SEK: If the costs to repair damages related to the collision exceed 35,000 SEK.

If any of the above conditions are met we recommend getting in contact with your insurance company. The conditions above is a international recommendation developed by a national expert group for child safety in cars, SIS/TK 242. The group includes representatives from child car seat and car manufacturers with subcontractors, consumer organizations, test institutes, traffic researchers, and insurance companies.

Yes, that’s fine, as long as you regularly check that the headrest is in the correct position in relation to your child. However, we do recommend not making a habit of locking the headrest ”just because”, since the protection in case of a collision comes from having the harness correctly fastened – not from having the headrest lever set on ”Lock”. The headrest brake is mainly used when the child is very small or when traveling with an empty car seat.

Yes, it is completely safe to use our side impact protection even if it touches the car door, provided that the door can still easily be closed without using excessive force.

When you purchase your Axkid car seat, additional tether straps are always included to enable installation in all cars, with or without attachment loops. For Axkid Move however, there is an exception since the tether straps on the seat are different and can be attached to any car directly without the use of additional tether straps. For more detailed installation instructions please click here »

Yes, when using the car seat rear-facing, you must always install the seat with the support leg. That’s how our car seats are tested and approved. Before installing the support leg you need to make sure that there is no storage compartment underneath the car floor. If this is the case, the lid needs to be removed and the support leg installed in that space and not on top of the storage compartment. Most car manufactures offer a storage compartment filler that also be used but please consult with your car manufacture or dealer.

When you install the car seat you need to ensure that the heel of the car seat is over the front of the seat that it is installed in. Do not be afraid to really push it in to the seat. The tighter the better!

As you can see in below video you need to push down the car seat after you have fasten the tether straps to the attachment loops or in the lower anchor straps. After that you need to pull out the support leg and after you have installed the support leg you should push down the car seat again.

Please see our video below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EYwDOF7e4M

If you are still facing difficulties, we have the leg extension for Axkid Minikid and Axkid Move that you can find on our webpage here »

It is important to check that the support leg is at an angle around 10° degrees from the back of the seat. You could check this by ensuring that the support leg is further away from the seat than the vertical line. Before installing the support leg you need to make sure that there is no storage compartment underneath the car floor. If this is the case, the lid needs to be removed and the support leg installed in that space and not on top of the storage compartment.

Unlike the usual approval of a car seat, the Plust test is a marking that is voluntary and it is up to the manufacturer to plus test the car seat or not. A Plus Tested car seat ensures that your child is not exposed to life-threatening high neck forces in a frontal collision. Today, all Axkid’s rear – facing car seats are plus tested and approved: Axkid ONE, Axkid Minikid 2, Axkid Move, and Axkid Modukid Seat. For more information about the Plus test, click here »

Long term they will be discontinued and replaced but currently, we will not stop producing car seats approved according to ECE R44/04.
